My 2 Cents Worth

I'm not sure how many years you need to be married before you can give others advice on the subject, but I figure I've had at least a little bit of experience so I'll give you all my 2 cent worth. :)
We've all heard the the famous verses in Ephesians 5:22 Wives submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. And Ephesians 5:33 And the wife must respect her husband.
Often times I think that as soon as us wives hear the words respect and submit we think of a hard task that we need to do, a burden that we just have to deal with every day.
It doesn't have to be that way you know, if we truly love our husbands submission and respect are 2 things that we long to give them, 2 ways of showing them just how much they mean to us!
I know that for me it as been some thing that I have had to learn, I have messed up many times, but thankfully there are always more opportunities for me to try again!
And when we really submit from the bottom of our hearts, it feels awesome!!
Well anyway, this post wasn't going to be about submission and respect, although as we know those 2 things are of utmost importance I have just discovered another thing.
It had come up a few times when Josh and I would be talking about our marriage and stuff, but I never really made the connection,
Then not to long ago it all made sense, (lightbulb!!!)
I heard a song somewhere, I don't even remember where, and it was talking about the exact same thing, only it was in a song so it all made sense to me now! :)
Its not a gospel or praise and worship song, but it really spoke to my heart!
Its a guy singing,  and in the chorus he says,
Oh I think that I've found myself a cheerleader,
she is always right there when I need her.
It keeps on going, but for me that was all that I heard.
A cheerleader, I am a cheerleader, am I his cheerleader?
Sure I may be submitting to what he wants to do, to his ideas about how we should do life, but am standing behind him, supporting him 100%?
Am I cheering him on when he comes in from a hard day at work?
Do I make him feel like he can do anything in the world?
Cause I should be, he should never have a doubt in his mind that he can do anything that he puts his mind to!
So there you have it, a piece of marriage advice from my 7 years of marriage.
I hope it hits home for you as much as it did for me. It has made a big difference on how I view respect and submission, it has taken it to a whole new level.

Cheerleader: a person who encourages other people to do or support something

Cheerleaders don't quit cheering for their team when they start losing, in fact they cheer louder and harder, willing their team to victory.
Do we do the same for our husbands?
When they make a decision that we don't agree with do we step back and wait for them to fail, or do we give them our full support and then help them pick up pieces if things don't work out?
Cheerleaders practice as long and hard at the sports team does.
Becoming a cheerleader for your husbands won't happen over night, so don't give up after the first try, keep at it, the cheerleaders that are the best probably fell the most.
Cheerleaders are a bit crazy sometimes.
And we should be to, when it comes to loving and and supporting our husbands we need to be crazy in love with them!
Cheerleaders go almost insane when their team wins.
Does your husband know how much you love him? Have you ever written him a little note, or given him that special wink or nod?
He needs to know that you are super excited about him and that you are just waiting to put on a celebration!

Love your husbands and be a cheerleader today!!
