In Our Garden

2 weeks ago we got our garden planted.
With the sunshine, rain and warm weather things were looking great! Then we got a night or 2 of frost and that kinda slowed things down, including freezing the tomatoes.
But the corn, peas and sun flowers have been up for 1 week now and are looking great!

For everyone of the 6 years that I have grown my own garden I have wanted to but up a wire for the peas to grow up, making picking them much easier!
It never seemed to happen, I didn't have the right supplies and then before I knew it the peas were getting picked! :)
So this year I decided now is the time, I planted twice as many peas this year so I would be rather sad once picking time came and I hadn't taken the time to do it, so we got on top of things and got the wire up on time!

Supplies.

Rows of peas.

Brendan wasn't sure how it work out.

But Andy soon showed him how it was done.

And before we knew it the wire was up!

And now the peas can grow as fast as ever they want!

Then we headed to the flower garden and picked some flowers.

And now we are enjoying the bouquets of the Summer!

Dandelion Seeds

Yes, we have dandelions on our yard.
You might say we specialize in growing them, but we don't, they just love our lawn.
I grew up on a yard where we got rid of the dandelions every Summer by spraying our grass. Needless to say that doesn't happen here. :)
Yes, it did take me a few Summers to get over the fact that there were yellow flowers everywhere!
But I got over it, and I'm just as happy with dandelions growing on my lawn as I would be with out, well actually I have no idea cause I've never been with out.
But, they haven't hurt me yet, so I'm thinking that we'll be ok! Besides, we wouldn't have a lawn left if we killed the dandelions! :)

The kids were itching to shoot something today, they figured the dandelion seeds might be fun.

After some of that they ran over them with the popper thingy.

And then just picked them.

And picked them.

And picked them.

And picked them.

Then they gave them to me, and I believe that only a mothers heart could melt from receiving a bouquet like this one!

#356 on my thankfulness list is:
Im thankful for neighbours that grow dandelions too! :)

And this kid played on his bike, in the drying up mud puddle, and then he was sad cause his feet were muddy, but his mother told him he would be ok, after all dandelions and mud haven't killed anyone yet.

Walking in the Country

We have the perfect walking place where we live, down our lane, and then turn right for a mile and a half, that brings you to the "stop sign" where you turn around then come back, a perfect 3 mile walk!
Normally I walk it with someone else, either my Mother in law, one of my sisters, or sometimes if I feel like pushing the stroller Ill take a kid or 2. :)
But the day I walked by myself, so I decided to take my camera with me to see what we could see.

Starting doen our lane.

Where the water runs under our lane, the frogs are always singing here!

A one of a kind hydro pole.

An old yard, it would be our closest neighbour, but no one livers there anymore.

The "tree", if this one lonely tree wasn't here the whole landscape would look really different.

A may flower, they always bloom in June though. :)

The famous stop sign!!

Tracks made by something big.

The tree again.

Dandelions.

Our mail box at the end of the lane.

And my favourite part of the walk, the home stretch. Theres nothing like coming home!

What was Old is now Something Different

I was going to buy some new flower planters this year, cause I love flowers and I needed a new place for them to grow in.
But after looking in a few stores I figured, there has to be a cheaper way to get flower pots!
So off to Pinterest I went! :)
I got so many ideas and was excited that I would be able to make them out of things that we had laying around, namely old pallets. :)

We picked out the nicest (oldest) looking pallets, and took them to the shop to start the transformation.

After a few hours we had them finished, filled them with dirt and then planted the flowers.
I cant wait to see what they will look like when they get bigger!

I do love me some flowers!
